Seeking help when trying to overcome depression can often feel like it takes a mountain of energy, motivation, and hope.
Oftentimes, individuals with depression feel alone in their sadness and/or experience a sense of stigma, shame, and guilt when talking about what they’re going through.
When you experience depression, you may have the belief that you should not be a burden to anyone.
Additionally, there are situations where you had some success managing it on your own. However, you find it difficult to build the momentum towards the next few steps. Maybe, you are feeling stuck, or find yourself thinking the situation is completely hopeless.

While everyone experiences depression a little bit differently, here are some of the common symptoms of depression:
Low mood and increased sadness most of the day, nearly every day
Feelings of guilt, helplessness, worthlessness, or hopelessness
Loss of interest, pleasure, and/or motivation in previously enjoyable activities or hobbies
Increased isolation and/or irritability
Significant weight loss or gain due to decrease or increase in appetite
Changes in the way you sleep either difficulty falling asleep/staying asleep or difficulty getting out of bed and excessive sleeping
Loss of energy and increase fatigue nearly every day
Increased muscle/physical pain that could include migraines, upset stomach, or digestive issues, etc.
Trouble focusing, concentrating or staying on task
Increased thoughts about self-harm and/or suicide
Daily living can often feel hard when trying to overcome such barriers due to depression.
